Meghalaya Honeymoon Special Itinerary : Shillong 2NT + Cherrapunjee 2NT + Mawlynnong 1NT + Shnongpdeng 1NT + Guwahati 1NT

Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati, Drive to Shillong

We will receive you from the Guwahati Airport/ Railway Station and drive to Shillong, bypassing Guwahati city. Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya and formerly the capital of undivided Assam. It is a beautiful city encircled by pine trees, picturesque hills and tribal traditions.

Interestingly, Shillong also has a westernized culture and it has a very young feel to it. Shillong is also famous as the music capital of India, with music events happening throughout the year. The soothing climate makes Shillong suitable to visit in all seasons. The light drizzles and the cooling gentle wind adds to the joy of visiting this hill station. The region is also famously known as the ‘Scotland of the East’.

On our way to Shillong, we will cover the beautiful Umiam Lake. In the evening we will visit the Police Bazaar and the Wards lake.

Day 02: Shillong Sightseeing, Mawsynram, Stay in Shillong

After Breakfast, we will visit a few more places in Shillong, which includes the Shillong Cathedral, Elephants Falls and Mawphlang Sacred Groove. We will also drive to the wettest place in the world Mawsynram. Drive back to Shillong.

Day 3: Drive to Cherrapunjee

Today, we will drive to Cherrapunjee for your stay. Also locally known as Sohra, the enchanting region is a paradise on the earth if one goes by the gurgling waterfalls along with other natural beauty and bounty. Previously it was the administrative headquarters of the British but was later shifted to Shillong.

The journey to Sohra is no less wonderful with the zig-zag road in the mist of blue hills surrounded by the clouds that hides and seeks throughout. The landscape takes a different backdrop on the way to the places of interest and tourists take delight to discover the summer monsoons. Cherrapunjee also holds the record for highest rainfall in a calendar year and is considered to be one of the wettest places on earth.

Day 4: Double Decker Root Bridge Trek, Stay in Cherrapunjee

Today we will drive to Tryna for the Double Decker Living Root Bridge Trek. Tryna is the starting point of this trek to Nongriat.

The living root bridges of Meghalaya are one of the most unique achievements of primitive bio- engineering. Also, the waterfalls of Meghalaya are the most attractive in India. What makes Nongriat so special is the combination of both of these attractions. The Double Decker root bridge is the most popular of all root bridges, while the Rainbow falls is one of the most attractive waterfalls in the state. Adding to it are the turquoise crystal clear hidden pools. A dip in one of those pools will certainly get you lost in its tranquillity. We will later trek back to Tryna and then drive to Cherrapunjee.

Day 5: Cherrapunjee Sightseeing, Stay in Mawlynnong

We will start our day by visiting various places in and around Cherrapunjee. It includes Wei Sawdong Falls, Dainthlen Falls, Seven Sisters Falls, Mawsmai Caves and Nohkalikai Falls.

After sightseeing in Cherrapunjee, we will drive to Mawlynnong. Regarded as ‘God’s own garden’, Mawlynnong has won recognition for being the cleanest village in Asia. This charming village known for its cleanliness is a community-based ecotourism initiative. The commitment of the villagers in keeping up with the reputation of a clean village is inspiring. With its serene natural beauty and rich vegetation, a day spent in this village would be an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Tourists can enjoy a hike to the living roots bridge at a neighboring village called Riwai. With roots entangled to form a bridge on top of a stream, the living roots bridge provides an astounding sight. Another attraction is its bamboo sky-towers which presents a general view of this picturesque village and a panoramic view of the Bangladesh plains.
Your dinner and stay will be in a home stay in Mawlynnong .

Day 6: Drive to Shnongpdeng, Boating and Cliff Jumping

Today we will drive to Shnongpdeng. It is a beautiful village located in the Jaintia hills, about 20 mins from Dawki. It is a lesser known cousin of Dawki and is slightly off the tourist circuit. It is located in the banks of the serene Umngot river. The river is so clean that the boats look like they are floating in thin air. The village is famous for recreational activities like Kayaking, Zip Lining, Snorkeling, Cliff Jumping, etc. We will do a few activities in Shnongpdeng.

Day 7: Drive to Jowai via Krangsuri Falls

Today we will drive to Amlarem. It is home of one of the most beautiful falls in the state, the Krangsuri Falls. With the water as blue as the sky itself, the Krangsuri falls is one of the most alluring falls you will come across in Meghalaya. A dip in its plunge pools and you will certainly get lost in the tranquil ambience.

After Krangsuri, we will cover one more fall, which will be either Tryshi balls or Phi Phi Falls, or both. After that, we will drive to Guwahati.

Dinner and Stay in Guwahati.

Day 8: Departure from Guwahati – Fly out

After Breakfast, Visit Kamakhya Temple than drop at the Airport/Railway Station for your onward journey.

Leave Northeast with beautiful memories.
